Specialist Program – Instrumental Music Program
We offer an Instrumental Music Program during school time, using private providers. The program began in 2006 and by 2010 we had over 60 students learning an instrument.
The program runs 8-10 lessons per term. Instruments offered are:
Years 2-6: Electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, vocals
Years R-6: Acoustic guitar, keyboard (vocals on application)
Fees are specific to each instrumental teacher, but as a guide it costs around $20 – $25 for a shared group lesson of 30 minutes per week consisting of 2 students up to four students.
Term fees will be invoiced and can be paid each term or before each lesson, either to the instrumental music teacher or may be dropped into the school office. Fees are due and payable on receipt of the student’s first lesson. If payment is not received within a 2-week time frame, parents will be contacted and lessons may be stopped.
The school supplies instruments for the music lesson, however, each student must have access at home to the instrument they are learning as there is an expectation that they practice outside of school hours.
Each year the instrumental program students showcase what they have achieved at a music evening for their parents and friends in term 4.
Contact us for more information or for an application form.
If places are available students will begin the term following receipt of their application. The application form will be passed on to the individual teacher concerned who will contact you to confirm a day and time for the student’s lesson and to arrange for payment of fees.
East Para Rock Band
Students of the Instrumental Music Program who have shown a commitment to the learning of their chosen instrument are invited to audition for this band. Auditions may be opened, at times, to all students at EPPS. Band sessions will not be charged for and will require some playtime and out of school hours commitment.
Parents can look forward to students performing at our music evenings which showcase how students have progressed during the year and at the school celebrations as their skills grow. The Rock Band also plays at community events including Festival of Music, fairs, Christmas Parades, Tea Tree Plaza and is eager for any opportunity to perform.
